Sunday 19th April

On Sunday morning a great time of coming together as God's people was had as we praised God in worship. A challenging message on Acts 21:10-14 by Ray, raised issues for us such as;
* How does God speak to us?
* What does prophecy look like?
* Should we expect prophets like Agabus today?

Ray answered this by taking us on a journey through the Bible with some further questions and answers;

1. What marks out a prophet?
1.1 Whatever he prophesies must come true all the time or he must be put to death.
See Deuteronomy 18:20-22
1.2 A prophet who speaks inconsistently with God’s existing word must be put to death.
See Deut 13:1-5
1.3 Prophecy is direct revelation from God.
See Exodus 4:14-16; 7:1
2. What message will a prophet give?
See 1Peter 1:10-12; Rom 16:25,26; Ephesians 3:3-6
3. Were there different ‘classes’ of prophets? Were some less authoritative than others?
See Acts 11:27-28; 21:10-14; 21:27-35; 28:17
4. What was the setting of New Testament prophets?
5. How should we expect God to speak to us?
See 2Timothy 3:16-17

God speaks to us through His Word by the Holy Spirit.
